Biography
Prof. Dr. Eng. Ioan Dumitrache is a Romanian engineer and academic, full professor in Control and Systems Engineering. He graduated from the *Politehnica University of Bucharest* in 1962, and received his PhD in Automatic Control (Electric Automation) in 1970. Throughout his career he has held several leadership positions, including Dean of the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers at Politehnica University, Head of Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, and Rector of Politehnica University of Bucharest. He has been a leading researcher in areas such as advanced control algorithms, intelligent control systems, robotics, cyber-physical systems, smart manufacturing, and bioprocess control. He is author or co-author of hundreds of articles and many books and monographs. Prof. Dumitrache is a corresponding member (since 2003) of the Romanian Academy and since 2018 has served as its General Secretary. He holds several honorary doctorates and has been active in national and international scientific bodies and editorial boards.
